You can blame Devastatia Del Gato for this. She has her own “wall of shame” page. Simone Silvestroni has something similar in his Accounts Graveyard post. So I thought I’d create my own.
I’ve been banned from the following sites, and I have no intention of ever returning.
I’ve deleted (or abandoned if deletion isn’t permitted) accounts on the following platforms.
Some of these are because I no longer want to participate in social media. Others are due to mismanagement on the part of their owners; their negligence has allowed these platforms to become Nazi bars. If I want Stormfront I know where to find it.
I will never consider creating accounts on the following platforms, because I don’t want to be mistaken for a fascist sympathizer.
I reserve the right to reject visitors referred to my website from the following locations
I regard these platforms as groupthink incubators whose management either tolerates authoritarians or actively courts them. I have little regard for the general quality of discussions on these platforms. Therefore, I do not want people who frequent them visiting me. I doubt they would find anything I post of interest or use to them in any case, save as a trigger for self-righteous indignation. They can make do with the New York Times if that’s all they want.
I use robots.txt to indicate that I do not consent to have my website crawled AI firms. I offer limited access to commercial search engines. This policy is non-negotiable and subject to change at my sole discretion.
My website is available under a Creative Commons license, and I do not think that being listed in a commercial search engine or used as training data for a commercially-available LLM counts as the non-commercial use to which I generally consent.
