Rather than use comment forms on other people’s websites or parasocial media, Matthew Cambion replies here.

We also provide a plain text version.

I have long thought that the whole point of having one’s website (and incurring the expenses of domain registration and hosting) is being able to have your say without being subject to any restraints other than the law itself. In the US, the highest law governing speech is the First Amendment.

While I could, and have, commented on other people’s blog posts on their own sites, or used platforms like the Fediverse or Reddit, I have done so knowing that I was an uninvited and at best tolerated guest. What I posted there could be discarded or edited at the discretion of the site’s operator. But on starbreaker.org, I am the operator, and I will have my say regardless of anybody else’s objections.

However, I will not use this section merely to disagree with people. You may also finding me saying yes, but... or yes, and...

If you want to subscribe only to posts in this section, I provided the following web feeds:

headlines-only Atom feed
/commentary/headlines.xml
full-text Atom feed
/commentary/feed.xml

Both feeds should be readable in your browser, without additional software, but they are best used in a dedicated feed reader.
