This section contains notes on stuff Iâve figured out how to do with my computers, all of which are
secondhand, refurbished business-class machines running Debian GNU/Linux. I not only do my own webcraft with basic UNIX
tools, but Iâve learned to do a bit of shell scripting, Iâm my own sysadmin, and I even dabble in Emacs Lisp so
that I can customize GNU Emacs to my liking.
I do it because personal computing should be precisely that. I donât want my computers programming me. And, frankly, knowing that a computer will execute my commands as typed is comforting.
Iâm sharing some of what Iâve learned here in case itâs of use to others. However, there is no warranty; I
guarantee nothing save that it worked for me on my own machines.
